Welcome to the vibrant world of Saravanaa Bhavan, where every bite is a celebration of authentic Indian vegetarian cuisine nestled at 701 Boronia Rd, Wantirna, VIC 3152, Australia. Famous for its delectable South Indian dishes, this renowned restaurant has earned a special place in the hearts of food lovers and gourmets alike.
Upon entering Saravanaa Bhavan, you are greeted by an ambiance that reflects the rich cultural tapestry of India. The spacious layout coupled with attentive staff ensures that your dining experience is nothing short of delightful. As noted by our patrons, the atmosphere is clean, welcoming, and family-friendly, making it an ideal spot for gatherings.
One cannot visit without indulging in the signature dosas. Whether you choose the delightful Ragi Masala Dosa at A$17.90 or the classic Ghee Roast Masala Dosa for A$19.90, each dish exemplifies what makes the cuisine so special. Customers have raved about the thin, crispy texture and the harmonious blend of spices, creating an experience that is both satiating and memorable. As highlighted by our reviewer, Dhananjaya Ponnamperuma, the ghee dosa here rivals those found in South Asia, making it a worthy contender for the best dosa in Melbourne.
For those seeking a hearty meal, the restaurant offers an unlimited Banana Leaf Thali on weekends, showcasing a variety of flavors and textures that transports you straight to the heart of Indian culinary tradition. Likhitha S affectionately declared it her favorite menu item, a testament to the quality and authenticity that Saravanaa Bhavan promises.
And it’s not just about the mains! The selection of sweets—including the melt-in-your-mouth Kaju Katli and Milk Mysore Pak—offers a perfect ending to your meal. Expect nothing less than satisfaction as you explore an array of delights that reflect the true essence of Indian desserts, each presented with care.
While the prices may lean towards the higher side, patrons agree that the quality of the ingredients and the intricate flavors make every penny worth it. Moreover, the restaurant employs efficient crowd management, ensuring that even during peak hours, your wait time remains reasonable. As Venkat Naresh experienced, waiting in the car while they prepare your table is a novel approach to hospitality.
In essence, Saravanaa Bhavan is more than just a meal; it’s a full-bodied experience steeped in tradition, quality, and genuine service. With positive feedback about their generous portions and the consistent quality of food, it is clear that this establishment has cemented its place as a top choice for anyone craving authentic Indian vegetarian cuisine in Melbourne. Stop by for a taste that will leave you planning your next visit before you even finish your meal!

I’ve visited all the Saravana Bhavan branches in Melbourne, and this one is my favourite! I especially love their South Indian Thali and North Indian Thali — both are consistently delicious. The highlight for me is the unlimited Banana Leaf Thali served on weekends — it’s absolutely mouth-watering! Staff are always kind and attentive. Highly recommended if you're looking for an authentic Indian dining experience.

Visited this place for dinner, there was huge wait for a table. Had to scan a QR code and leave phone number and wait until we get a call. They even suggested to wait in the car and will give a call when table is ready, Probably to clear the queue at their door step, good way of managing the crowd. We order Paneer paratha which was tasty. Dosa's were good as well, though we felt little dry but still good to eat. Podi fried idly's were a disappointment as those were not fried and the podi used was very coarse and disturbing. Overall the experience was OK. Probably will visit again when we are in that place and looking for a pure Vegetarian options.

Overall - Some of the best dosa in Melbourne! It is hard to find good Indian food (especially Southern), but this place gives some great options. The ghee dosa and vada was the best I have had outside Sri Lanka. Price - The prices are on the higher side compared to most Indian restaurants but quality is great. Atmosphere - Clean and very decent decent Staff - Freindly, great service Wait time - I have only visited on weekends which tends to be quite busy. Waiting time for a table could be from zero to 10 mins. I got food in 10mins once, but on the worst day it took almost 25mins.

The car park was quite big. The restaurant was spacious, pleasant, and clean. The food was also of good quality. The wait time was minimal, and the ordering process over the phone was quick and easy.

It’s a nice restaurant in Wantirna with good food and good service. There’s an ample parking area . It’s a good place to go with your family and friends who are looking for good vegetarian food and restaurant. Varieties of sweets are there .Definitely you have to try their payasam(I think we tried Ragi payyasam) . Only I gave 4 stars because and it’s bit expensive for a family , we paid around $130 . But quality is there .

Didn't feel that authentic south Indian taste. May be my expectations was too much.. I have been to several Saravana bhavan back home, south indian thali is signature dish on saravana bhavan menu but It didn't taste that great here in wantirna branch. Rest of the other dishes was good.
